Phone Bank Organizer
East County Rising is a PAC founded July 2018 to build power for our underserved communities in Multnomah County. We work to foster a more civically engaged community and reflective leadership by mobilizing voters, training candidates and winning elections.
We are seeking motivated and community-driven phonebankers to join our Rising Together campaign for the 2020 general election. This campaign is a coordinated effort between ECR and candidates for local offices such as the Gresham Mayor and 3 Gresham City Council positions:

Job title: Phone Bank Organizer
Application deadline: Accepting applications on a rolling basis & setting up interviews on a first come, first served basis. This position will remain open until filled. Hiring to happen immediately after the interview.
Job duration: This is a temporary, seasonal position with an end date of Election Day (November 3rd). Approximately 10-20 hours per week. Evening and weekend work required.
Compensation: Hourly compensation at $17/hour ($18/hr for bilingual candidates).
Description: A Phone Bank Organizer will be reaching out to voters for canvassing or getting out the vote, via phone calls. We are seeking applicants that are great team players, great communicators and that understand the importance of reaching out to voters and letting them know who our candidates are, what they stand for and why they are counting on their vote. Phone Bank organizers must have wi-fi, a computer or regular computer access, and the ability to work from home (or other suitable work location).
We require applicants to be at least 18 years old to apply for this position.
Job Responsibilities include:
Beginning on virtual phone bank events on time (5 minutes before your shift)
Following a flexible phone script, addressing questions from voters during phone bank conversations, learning talking points about the campaign and the candidates and a personable attitude that will resonate with community members.
Debriefing phone bank events, including reporting positive and negative phone calls, documenting any difficult scenarios and communicating with the East County Rising staff routinely
Working with East County Rising staff to get trained on phonebank systems, the script, managing hours worked, and filling out timesheets
Desired Experience: These desired qualifications and experiences are preferred, but not required.
Campaign experience as field staff, community organizer, political staff, or similar positions, or prior experience as a phone banker or in customer relations;
Experience working with impacted communities, such as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color communities, youth, and low-income communities;
Limited administrative experience, such as completing and filing necessary paperwork (such as timesheets);
Some writing abilities, including debriefing events, incidents, and work experience to a supervisor;
Additional Preferences: Bilingual skills (Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Somali and any top additional languages spoken in East Multnomah County) and familiarity with East Multnomah County geography and/or communities
Able to quickly adapt to a changing campaign environment, to quickly learn about the specific needs of a community outreach operation.
