Rising Organizer Program

We believe responsive, accountable, and truly representative governance begins with the campaign. Far too often, volunteers are given endless numbers of people to contact, used to do the hard work, and barely trained. Far too often, campaigns reach out to people to win their vote and disappear after election day. We think it’s time to do things differently.

Meet the Rising Organizer Program.

This is your program. East County Rising is here to provide tools and resources to make it easy to take action together and facilitate a space to learn and grow together as Rising Organizers. We have opportunities to engage and make change happen in a variety of ways. Let us know how you want to get involved.

Build New Connections

The many crises and uncertainties we face demand connection with our communities to ensure everyone’s voice is heard. To do so, we invite you to write postcards to a group of 40 voters and follow up by calling and messaging. Check out the voter engagement plan here

Activate Your Network

The power to effectively organize and make change happen comes from our relationships. We can help you build on your existing connections in East Multnomah County, engaging your network and helping them realize their political power.

Attend an Activating Your Network 101 session to get started! This will include:

  • An activity to build the list of your network

  • A training on a great tool that can help us organize

  • A discussion about what you can ask people to do

  • Opportunities to connect with fellow organizers and learn from each other

Call Our Communities:

Join ECR and our endorsed candidates to call and connect with people in our communities.

Write Our Neighbors:

Write postcards asking our neighbors to join us in voting for the candidates we support and to stay in touch with East County Rising.

Deliver Signs, Postcards, and Literature:

Help deliver lawn signs, postcards, and literature to households in your neighborhood while ensuring we're taking precautions to protect our communities from the threat of COVID-19.

Attend Community Events

From virtual happy hours to issue forums with candidates, we have opportunities to get to know each other, learn together, and celebrate all the work we’re doing.
